Danis Building Construction president retires

Danis Building Construction Co. President Tom Hammelrath has retired, effective at the end of 2014, company officials announced Thursday.

Hammelrath, who served the company for more than 41 years, will remain active as vice chairman of the Danis board of directors.

“As we look forward to our continued growth as a company, we do so recognizing that Tom’s vision and leadership have been an integral element of our success,” said John Danis, the company’s chairman and chief executive, in a statement.

Hammelrath will be replaced by Tom Haverkos, who currently serves as executive vice president of operations.

Danis Building Construction has more than $339 million of work ongoing in the Midwest with projects that include the Dayton Children’s Medical Center patient tower, the Kettering Medical Center renovation and the University of Dayton Chapel renovation, officials said.

The company expects an additional $107 million of work to start this year, including projects at the Mall at Fairfield Commons and Port Authority of Cincinnati.
