Gary Adamson, managing director of Brady Ware, said merger talks began more than a year ago, kicked into high gear in the spring, with the final documents being signed last month. He did not detail terms of the merger.
Adamson said his firm sought the merger because it wanted to tap into Atlanta’s high-growth economy. Technology will make it possible for the firms to work together despite the distance between them, he said.
Going forward, Adamson said they want to grow the Georgia office large enough so that it ranks in the top 25 CPA firms in Atlanta. Achieving this likely would require that the company expand its Atlanta area professional staff from more than 20 to more than 50, which would entail not only hiring people but also merging with another firm, Adamson said.
While Brady Ware plans to send a couple of workers from its local offices to Atlanta to help with the transition, Admason said Marsh & McConnell’s partners and employees are remaining with the company.
“No one is losing their job,” he said.
Michael Kopp, formerly a tax partner with Brady Ware, had been working for the Atlanta firm before the merger and will rejoin Brady Ware as a result of the deal, Adamson said.
Brady Ware has offices in Dayton and Columbus as well as Richmond, Ind, and employs 115 in Ohio and Indiana.
