Dayton Children’s Hospital is preparing to open its first inpatient unit for children in a behavioral health crisis.

The pediatric hospital has seen a sharp rise in recent years in children with mood disorders and with mental health needs, and subsequently has been expanding its mental health services.

After Dayton Children’s opens its inpatient unit, Kettering Health Network will close its mental health inpatient unit for children. Kettering Health will then use the space to expand its adult behavioral health services to meet its increased demand for services.
