Downtown boutique plans natural hair styling salon

Puff Apothecary, a natural hair and beauty boutique in downtown Dayton, is planning to expand into salon services.

Business owner Bethany Ramsey said she received a $10,000 grant from the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership to expand her shop, which now sells natural based products for hair and skin care.

Ramsey said the stylists will be focused on styling curly and afro textured hair, braiding, locs and educating clients on how to care for their natural hair.

“I’m so honored that the county supports and believes in Puff,” Ramsey said in a press release. “It’s a true indicator that the city supports Black owned businesses and strives to be inclusive as Dayton and Montgomery County continue to see exciting developments.”

Ramsey is anticipating a soft launch in October and a grand opening in February, and is now starting a wait list for the services.

The salon will have two chairs to start which means hiring two stylists. Currently besides Ramsey, the staff also includes assistant manager Dana Graham and two seasonal interns.

The business launched last year in the St. Clair Lofts building at 37 S. Saint Clair St.
