Grismer Tire co-owner appointed to national retail council

John Marshall, co-owner of Grismer Tire and Auto Service, has been appointed to serve on the National Retail Federation’s new Small Business Retail Council steering committee, NRF officials announced Tuesday.

The Small Business Retail Council will meet for the first time Thursday. One of the council’s missions is to advocate for passage of online sales tax fairness legislation dubbed the “Marketplace Fairness Act” that would require all Internet retailers to collect sales tax on every purchase made online.

Marshall, who also has served on the NRF’s Ohio Main Street Leadership Council, and other NRF members say the requirement would level the playing field with bricks-and-mortar businesses, create an estimated 11,000 retail jobs across Ohio and give states and counties a much-needed revenue boost.
