In October, Kroger announced it would hire 1,200 permanent workers in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas.
Over the last six years, Kroger has created more than 40,000 new jobs, according to Katy Barclay, the company’s senior vice president of human resources.
That figure doesn’t include jobs created as a result of capital investment, such as temporary construction jobs, nor does it include the 25,000 Harris Teeter Supermarkets associates who recently joined Kroger through the latter company’s acquisition of the North Carolina-based grocery chain.
When combined, Kroger currently employs more than 375,000 associates, officials said.
Kroger is the largest traditional grocery retailer in the U.S., with 2,424 supermarkets in 31 states, including 23 stores in the Dayton market.
