CODE Credit Union is planning to open a fourth area location by the end of the year in the Dayton Mall area, said Scott Rutherford, president and chief executive officer.

The Dayton-based credit union has signed a lease for space at 2759 Miamisburg-Centerville Road/Ohio 725 in Miami Twp., next to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble in the Mad River Station shopping center, Rutherford said. The lease is for five years, with an option for five more.

The new branch is about growth, he said.

“We’ve been trying to identify the correct location for us for years,” he said. “We feel it will help us attract a younger demographic.”

CODE’s other locations are its main office downtown on West Monument Avenue, an Englewood location on West National Road, and a Clayton location at Northmont High School.

Founded in 1940 as the financial cooperative of City of Dayton employees, CODE Credit Union has expanded to provide services to select employee groups of other major municipalities, including Kettering and West Carrollton.

It has charters in Darke, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties, which means anyone who lives, works, attends school or worships in those counties can be a member.

Strategic plans call for another branch location in three years, possibly in another county, Rutherford said.

CODE Credit Union has about 12,500 members and approximately $105 million in assets. Rutherford said when the new branch opens it will have 32 employees.

The new Miami Twp. location is in space previously occupied by Fairborn-based Wright-Patt Credit Union.
