The new facility is at 943 Woodley Road while the company’s headquarters is at 401 N. Keowee St.
In an announcement, the company said the $3 million expansion will lead to a “number of new jobs” in processing, compounding and injection molding work. O’Driscoll estimated that between 10 and 50 new employees could be brought on, but he could not say when hiring may begin.
“We don’t want to overset expectations,” he said. The company’s current workforce numbers around 200 in Dayton.
The privately held company has been based in Dayton since 1994.
The work set to start in early April includes resin-based products. The company brings in recycled plastic, sorts, cleans and formulates compounds from that material, O’Driscoll said. The end product is a pellet — an eighth to a quarter of an inch in size — which will be sold for use in housewares and “just about everything,” he said. The materials may end up plastic trash cans, large totes, plastic air dams and more, O’Driscoll said. CTC also uses the material for compression mold production.
“Our customers and their customers are recognizing the need for sustainable solutions in operating their businesses,” O’Driscoll said.
Montgomery County commissioners voted last week to approve a $125,000 grant for the expansion.
