Pirom Tintong, co-owner of Nida Thai Cuisine, said renovations are underway of the 1,500-square-foot space. The fast-casual restaurant will seat 30 to 35 people, Tintong said. Its menu will focus on traditional Thai cuisine, including curries, stir-fry dishes and specialty noodle dishes, he said.
Tintong said he and his family, including his wife and sister, have worked in Thai restaurants for more than 15 years in California, New York and the Dayton area. “I believe we have collected enough experience over the years to operate our own restaurant,” he said.
The space across from Centerville High School “is a good location, with plenty of parking,” Tintong said.
The Carmela’s Pizzeria restaurant in that space closed in March. Carmela’s co-founder Darren Dulsky said the restaurant “didn’t generate the kind of volume we needed.”
Carmela’s operates restaurants in Springboro, New Carlisle and Brookville. Dulsky said he is looking to expand, and is looking in the Springfield and New Lebanon areas. The company also has plans to expand outside Ohio via franchise restaurants.
