Yoga studio opens in Miamisburg

A new yoga and wellness studio has opened in Miamisburg.

Soham Yoga & Wellness opened earlier this month at 12 N. Main St. in the heart of downtown Miamisburg. Owner Melissa Perkins said it seemed like the perfect time to open her own shop after teaching yoga in the Dayton and West Chester communities for several years.

“We’ve turned this space into something very beautiful,” she said.

The 830-square-feet space incorporates studio and retail space. Perkins is a yoga teacher, Reiki master and licensed massage therapist. In addition to yoga classes, the center offers wellness coaching, massage therapy, Shiatsu massages, Reiki and private yoga sessions.

Soham is a Sanskrit mantra meaning, “I am that.”

Customers pay $12 for a drop-in class, and $100 for a 10-class package that must be used within 90 days of the purchase. The class schedule is posted on the Soham website. Perkins said she wants anyone of any skill level to feel comfortable walking into her studio.

“It’s not about being able to stand on your head or to necessarily get fit, but more about the teachings of authentic, traditional yoga,” she said.
