Farm house features renovated bedrooms, covered porch

Contributing Writer

Hidden from the roadway and sitting in the middle of a 3-acre property located at an end of a gravel driveway, this two-story home has expanded bedrooms, a first-floor room that provides floor plan options, two covered porches and a balcony sun deck.

Listed for $369,000 by RE/MAX Home Base, the vinyl-sided home at 1675 Trebein Road has about 2,430 square feet of living space. The 3-acre property includes a Cleary barn with three overhead garage doors, loft storage, a bathroom and an office. A concrete driveway starts at the gated entry and wraps around to the back of the house to a patio that has views of pastures and trees.

Formal entry to the residence is off the covered front porch. The original farmhouse has had some additions and updates, including a lead-glass front door with sidelights. The balcony deck that covers the front porch is made of a composite material and has a vinyl railing.

The front door opens into a foyer hallway with the original wood staircase and spindled railings. The original hardwood flooring fills the hallway, and wood-laminate flooring fills the main social areas. A living room or parlor is to the right and a family room is to the left.

A fireplace with wood-burning insert is the centerpiece to the family room. The fireplace has a marble slab mantel and painted brick accents. Next to the fireplace is a wall of built-in storage cabinets and drawers. Tall windows fill the room with natural light, and there are cutouts along the stairwell wall and a pass-through with counter top that goes into the kitchen.

The kitchen has walls of oak cabinetry and a sink below a bay window. There is a buffet counter with hanging cabinets above and room for a kitchen table. Off the kitchen is a breakfast nook or possible sun room as there are several windows. A short hallway ends at the rear entry to the home and there is a walk-in pantry closet. Access to the cellar basement is off the kitchen. The basement houses the mechanical systems.

Off the living room is a bonus room, which could be a first-floor bedroom as there is a closet and a built-in bookcase. Around the corner from the bonus room is the combination first-floor laundry room and full bathroom. The laundry room has a folding counter, several windows, a single-sink vanity and a tub/shower hidden around a corner.

Upstairs are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The main bedroom fills one side of the second level. Updated wood flooring fills the room. Off the bedroom is a room-size walk-in closet with wood shelves and hanging racks. A door opens into a toilet closet, and another door opens into the bathing space, which includes a soaking tub beneath a Palladian window and a walk-in shower.

On the opposite side of the hallway is another bedroom with a room-size walk-in closet and access to a second full bathroom. At the end of the hallway is a door that opens to the sun deck, which has a hot tub.
