Finished, full basement adds to living space
Contributing Writer
A cathedral ceiling with skylights peaks over the great room of this open concept ranch. Living space is nearly doubled with a full, finished basement.
Listed for $499,900 by Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors, the brick ranch at 750 Sedgwick Way has about 3,810 square feet of living space within the two levels. The house sits on a 0.49-acre, corner lot in the Stonebridge neighborhood of Troy. A concrete driveway leads up to the three-car garage and has extra parking pad. The back yard is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence, and there is a concrete patio.
Inside, volume ceilings add to the open floor plan of the main social areas as the great room has a cathedral ceiling with two skylights. Hardwood flooring fills the foyer and flows into the adjoining dining room, which has a triple-tray ceiling with crown molding and accent lights. Wood trim with keystone accents line the arched walkways that lead into the dining room, kitchen and hallway to the bedrooms.
Separated by flooring treatment, the great room and kitchen balance each other with maple cabinetry that includes a gas fireplace along one wall of the great room and matching maple cabinetry filling three walls of the kitchen.
An island offers seating for four, and corner windows are above the sink. Double frosted-glass doors open into a pantry and along the opposite wall are patio doors that open to a four-season room with tongue-and-groove walls and ceiling. The room has windows with screens, outlets, carpeting, a ceiling paddle fan and access to the backyard patio.
A short hallway from the kitchen provides access to a half bathroom, a laundry room, the dining room and ends at the entrance to the garage.
Three bedrooms and two full bathrooms are off the hallway from the foyer. Double doors open into the main bedroom, which has a tray ceiling and a sitting room. A second set of double doors open into the private bathroom with a heart-shaped whirlpool tub below glass-block window, a walk-in granite shower, a tall double-sink vanity and pocket doors that open to a walk-in closet and toilet room.
An open staircase from the great room leads down to a set of pocket doors that opens into the combination recreation room, family room and kitchenette. One wall has a built-in entertainment center with bookcases, desk and cabinetry. There are three above ground windows. The kitchen has a peninsula bar with built-in television and a wall of cabinetry that includes bottle and glass racks, a sink and appliances.
Tucked behind the kitchen, a fourth bedroom has walk-in closet and egress window. Across the short hallway is a full bathroom with a fiberglass tub/shower.
Off the family room is a hidden theater room with tiered seating platforms, a built-in screen with speakers, lighting sconces and sound-buffering ceiling tiles. There is also access to an unfinished room where the home’s mechanical systems are located.
