The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will have additional deputies on patrol for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from Friday to Monday, Sept. 2.

During that time deputies will conduct “high visibility traffic enforcement” focusing on looking for and stopping impaired drivers, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said that the campaign is meant to “bring forth the problems with impaired drivers” and get them off the road.

Since the beginning of the year, in Montgomery County there have been 314 alcohol- or drug-related crashes, 22 of which killed someone and 135 of which at least injured someone, the sheriff’s office said.

Statewide, during that same period there have been 6,177 alcohol- or drug-related crashes, 250 of which led to a death and 2,576 of which caused injuries, according to the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
