Fire destroys Huber Heights playground set; $5,000 reward offered

A fire destroyed playground equipment Wednesday afternoon at Community Park in Huber Heights.

Huber Heights police and fire crews were called just before 1:20 p.m. to the park at 5401 Chambersburg Road.

“Callers reported the mulch was on fire at one of the playground sets, which subsequently caught the playground set on fire,” Huber Heights police stated in a release.

Three suspects were reported fleeing from the scene.

Firefighters extinguished the flames, but not before the fire destroyed the equipment.

The playground set “is a total loss,” police said in a social media post.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Huber Heights Police Division at 937-237-3541.

The Ohio Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
