Hamilton was listed earlier this year among “30 unexpectedly awesome places to retire across America.”

The website MSN Money listed Hamilton alongside such places as Hot Springs, Ark.; Delaware, Ohio; Fairbanks, Alaska; Wilmington, Vt.; Kahului, Hawaii; and Bonita Springs, Fla.

The article describes the Butler County seat as “Affordable and Midwest friendly,” as well as “accessible to Cincinnati and the airport, located along the Great Miami River, and filled with restaurants, chic shopping, a vibrant arts scene, and biking and walking trails.” It notes the city has outdoor artwork and murals, and is home to micro-breweries.

Among other places listed were Nampa, Idaho, which is near Boise; Bisbee, Arizona; Camas, Washington; Falmouth, Mass., in the Cape Cod area; Traverse City, Mich.; Gardnerville, Nevada; Georgetown, Texas; Milwaukie, Oregon; Fairhope, Alabama; and Bozeman, Montana.
