Paint-and-sip wine bar announces opening date

The manager of a new Miami Twp. business that offers wine and beer by the glass in conjunction with hands-on painting classes today announced the wine bar’s grand opening date.

Pinot’s Palette will open Aug. 15 at 2826 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in front of the Dayton Mall, according to Erica Doggett of West Carrollton, daughter-in-law of Dale and Karen Doggett, the Pinot’s Palette franchise owner-operators. A ribbon-cutting and giveaways are scheduled on grand opening day, although the business will probably open “softly” in the days prior to the grand opening, Doggett said.

The new Dayton-area Pinot’s Palette is a franchise shop of a Houston-based “paint-and-sip” company that operates more than 30 such shops in the U.S. A similar painting-studio-and-wine-bar business, Raise Your Brush, opened at 169 N. Main St. in Centerville in January 2013. And another similar shop called Paint By The Glass is located at 8179 Princeton-Glendale Road in West Chester.

Erica Doggett said her goal is to open two more locations of Pinot’s Palette — perhaps one in Beavercreek near the Mall at Fairfield Commons and one in the Huber Heights area — within the next two years.

Pinot’s Palette will offer a destination for those interested in a “girls night out,” a date night and private events. Art instructors offer step-by-step instructions on creating a painting in a relaxed atmosphere that is suitable for those who have never painted before, Doggett said. The beverage emphasis will be on wine and beer, although cocktails also will be available, and will be offered during special theme nights, she said. Alcohol-free kids’ nights also will be offered.

The paint-and-sip shop will be open Thursday and Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon.
