“Rather than a Christmas opening, we’ve elected to shoot for early to mid- January start date,” he said.
Warped Wing Brewing Company will be a full-scale production craft brewery with a tasting room, located at 26 Wyandot St., between the Oregon Historic District and Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton.
Warped Wing is one of at least 13 breweries, brewpubs and microbreweries in various stages of development in the Dayton area, including three that have opened this month alone: Hairless Hare Brewery in Vandalia, Eudora Brewing Company in Kettering and Star City Brewing Company in Miamisburg.
Waizmann — chief organizer of AleFest, AleFeast, Dayton Beer Week and other events in the Dayton area and the region — is the CEO and president of Warped Wing. Co-founders include brewmaster John Haggerty, who worked as head brewer for New Holland Brewing in Holland, Michigan for 10 years; Nick Bowman, who worked in sales and marketing positions for Anheuser-Busch; and Michael Stover, a certified public accountant.
Warped Wing’s brewery will have a tasting room. The brewery will package its beers in four-packs of 16-ounce cans, in part to pay homage to Ermal Fraze, who invented the pop-top can in Dayton. The brewery is named for the technology invented by the Wright Brothers that made controlled flight possible.
