More than 100 people entered this year’s Dayton Daily News’ Short Story contest. This marks the 18th year the newspaper has held the contest, and the fourth year that the Antioch Writers’ Workshop (www.antiochwritersworkshop.com) has been a co-sponsor.

Second Place Adult: "Our Internal Lives" Sarah Doebereiner

First Place Teen: "Carpool Book Club" Deborah Rocheleau

First Place Youth: "27 Days of Suffering" Ben Kochensparger

Second Place Youth: "Jenny Sais Quoi" Helen Sparrow

The Best in Show winner receives a full scholarship (registration and tuition) to this year’s 29th annual Summer Program of the Antioch Writers’ Workshop, which will be held July 12-18 and feature Andre Dubus III as the keynote speaker, as well as other stellar faculty, including local fiction writers Katrina Kittle and Erin Flanagan and poet Chris DeWeese.

The First Place Adult and Teen winners each receive a partial scholarship to the workshop; the First Place Youth winner receives a $25 gift card to Books & Co. at The Greene.
