FAIRFIELD — The father/daughter duo Anna & Milovan have performed at Fairfield’s Village Green before, but for their June 2 appearance, they’re bringing along something new: a rhythm section.

For their Groovin’ on the Green performance, Anna & Milovan are expected to be joined by drummer Kevin Nicht. This will be one of their few performances with a rhythm section; Anna & Milovan have typically flown solo before, Anna Beljin said.

The core of the band remains intact, though: Anna and Milovan both play guitars, Anna takes the lead vocals.

“We’ll be doing a lot of covers like the Pretenders and Four Non Blondes, and some original stuff,” said Anna, who counts Jewel among her primary influences. “I’m really not used to hearing a full band sound. That’s going to bring a lot of energy.”

Milovan Beljin said, “My daughter and I have been playing around for five years in the Cincinnati area ... She was 16 or so and we were on a vacation and I always bring a guitar. She starts singing with me, and it sounded really good.”

Good as it sounded, that didn’t keep the butterflies away in the early days.

“I think in the beginning I was really nervous. Playing music was hard and I was hiding my face,” Anna said.

Now a lot of people know Anna and Milovan’s faces, especially in the Fairfield area. They’ve played the city’s Red White and Boom Fourth of July Festival, and are popular at Symmes Tavern.

“People just know the two of us,” Milovan said. Their profile was boosted by a CD Anna released last year called “When it Rains” — a title that is all too apt, given the severe weather lately.

But that is not the only milestone Anna has enjoyed lately. She plans to get married in December, and she just graduated from Miami University with a degree in early childhood education. So perhaps its not a surprise when Anna says, “I want to work in music therapy.”

The concert is free and open to the public. Coming up next in Groovin’ on the Green is the group The Lucky Stars, with guitarist Scotty Anderson on June 9.
