And in November, he’ll be up for an Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Event of the Year for a song with Trisha Yearwood.
And he recently branched out into acting, filming a part in a Billy Graham biopic, “Billy: The Early Years.”
On Saturday, he’ll bring his growing catalogue of songs, which include “Long Black Train,” “I’m Your Man,” “Firecracker,” “Would You Go With Me” and “Me and God,” to Kettering.
And speaking of hot, he’s also been named by People magazine as one of the hottest country singers.
“Another Try,” is the CMA-nominated duet with Yearwood. Getting her to sing with him was a major accomplishment. First, she’s cut back on performing in recent years. Second, she’s picky about whom she sings with.
Yearwood told Josh Turner.com that she was interested in singing with the deep-voiced native of South Carolina because she’s “a fan,” but she had to hear the song first.
“The song is beautiful, and so I said yes. When I got there, (I tried to) give it those little nuances to make it special, and I was really happy with the way it came out,” Yearwood said.
Turner also has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville’s Walk of Fame.
His induction into the Opry was fulfilling not just due to the grand history of the theater, but because of Turner’s first performance there in 2001, according to Opry.com.
When he appeared, he was unknown. He sang “Long Black Train,” which would become his first hit. He got several standing ovations, and the audience demanded an encore.
Turner is touring with Ashton Shepherd, who was discovered in 2006 after winning a talent contest. Her debut album is “Sounds So Good.”
