The campaign has already reached 80 percent of its goal. Twelve million dollars was raised during a quiet phase of the campaign, which included securing of preliminary gifts from individual and institutional donors who have been long-term champions of the arts in Dayton, according to a news release from the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance.
Oakwood-raised actress Allison Janney is lending her support to the campaign as an honorary chairperson.
“I’m proud to serve as Honorary Chair for One Dayton. One Alliance, the endowment campaign for Dayton’s performing arts,” Janney said in a news release.
“One of the formative experiences of my life was being part of the Dayton Ballet School. We can help make that kind of life-changing opportunity available to future generations by supporting the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance in this special campaign. Please give generously; it’s an investment in our community’s future.”
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
This endowment fundraising initiative will allow the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance to expand its impact from the stage to civic life in Dayton and the surrounding region, according to the DPAA.
“Our goal is to raise $15 million to sustain performing arts in the greater Dayton community,” John Beran, Dayton Performing Arts Alliance Board Chair said in a news release.
“We are calling on the community to help us reach our goal so that we can ensure that innovative programming, dynamic educational opportunities and live performances are able to continue,” he said.
“We are thrilled to have raised $12 million of the $15 million goal in the initial phases of our campaign, and we now call on the Dayton community to help take us boldly to the finish line."
ABOUT THE ARTS ALLIANCE
In 2012, leadership of the Dayton Opera, Dayton Ballet, and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra combined into one organization named the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance.
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, with Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Ballet, and Dayton Opera, planned for future success by creating a single management structure and business operating unit while preserving the integrity and identity of each of its three art forms.
The organization, unique in the nation, emulates the model of highly successful European performing arts organizations that emphasize artistic collaboration.
It is uniquely positioned to serve Dayton and the surrounding region today and in the future.
The Alliance has a new strategic vision to transform lives through the power of music and dance. This vision is guided by seven key values:
• To be a welcoming force to all people of the greater Dayton community
• To be fearless innovators, committed to bold exploration of new horizons in music and dance
• To be responsible stewards of ballet, opera, and orchestral music in the Dayton region
• To be uncompromising performers
• To be inspiring educators, stimulating imaginations and opening minds to new possibilities
• To be a dynamic partner in the cultural, education, and business sectors of Dayton
• To be fierce advocates to achieve our vision through leadership and commitment
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is positioning itself to grow and engage the community through performances, programs, and educational opportunities.
Organizers believe support for One Dayton. One Alliance. will ensure continued growth and sustainability.
