Bacon Fest 2019 organizers have nailed the description for this year’s event: “the greatest food on planet Earth — BACON.”

The wildly popular crispy and chewy festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. at Fraze Pavilion, 695 Lincoln Park Blvd. in Kettering.

New participants include Salar, Pa’s Pork and Rolling Indulgence, a food truck  operated by three Carvers Steaks & Chops employees that recently competed in the Food Network series “The Great Food Truck Race.” While the truck is still in the works, the team will be there serving some of their delicious eats.

“This will be their first rodeo with us and their first outing at all,” said Amy Zahora, Miami Valley Restaurant Association Executive Director.

Among the bacon delights to drool over are last year’s best dessert, Duck Donuts’ maple glazed bacon donut. “They had a line forever last year,” Zahora said.

Amber Rose will have a new bacon wrapped turkey leg.

“They are turkey wings like the ones you walk around at the Renaissance Festival with,” Zahora said.

The festival is organized by the Restaurant Raiders, a Dayton area “foodie” group, and challenges restaurants to provide innovative and tried-and-true recipes featuring bacon.

Last year more than 15,000 people showed up to celebrate the magic of bacon.
