SHAZAM! Dayton Metro Library plans Free Comic Book Day

Can’t get enough of superheroes? Dayton Metro Library has an event for you. Free Comic Book Day will be held at the main downtown library and at some of the branches Saturday, May 4.

The event — geared toward adults, teens and older children — will have comic book giveaways (while supplies last), superhero movies, an anime marathon and more.

“Comics are amazing, collaborative works,” Shaun Wright, the Dayton Metro Library Information Services Manager, said in a news release. “They’re also great tools to teach and increase literacy. These things are fundamental to libraries.”

Free Comic Book Day activities at the Main Library, 215 E. Third St.: 

Power Play: Superhero Escape Room

You’ve awakened without your super powers. "The Doctor of Doom" has stolen them. If you don't solve the puzzle within the hour, they'll be gone forever! Fun for adults and families with children age 7 and older. To ensure all members of your group can participate in the same session, please register all members of the group at once.

Sessions are: 10-11 AM, 11:30-12:30 AM, 1-2 PM, 2:30-3:30 PM, 4-5 PM

Make Yourself A Hero 

Journey through space or fly through the sky like your favorite superhero. Play with props, select your background, and Green Screen technology will put you right in the story. Experience the Green Screen Room's full capabilities!

Get a free comic (while supplies last) and visit one of our comic-themed stations for crafts, games, and a movie. Take a virtual photo with your favorite superhero using our Green Screen!

10 AM-5 PM - Trotwood branch, 651 E. Main St.

Free Comic Book Day Extravaganza

Pick up a free comic book while supplies last, do some super crafts, and watch a super movie with free popcorn too.

10 AM-5 PM - Burkhardt branch, 4680 Burkhardt Ave.

Free Comic Book Day Superhero Celebration

Celebrate popular comic book heroes with crafts, games, and snacks and take home a free comic book while supplies last.

2-3:30 PM - Miamisburg branch, 545 E. Linden Ave.

For kids ages 7-12. Please register in advance.
