COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS: Tree lighting celebrations across Dayton

It's that time of the year again! Dayton and its surrounding areas are working to bring the community together for their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

🎄 THE GREENE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: Thursday Nov. 14 at 4452 Buckeye Lane in Beavercreek. Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. Santa arrives at 7 p.m. The event will feature a parade heralding in Santa Claus, who will light the 50-foot-tree with a child from the Special Wish Foundation. Horse-drawn carriage rides and a special Santa photo set will be available for visitors.

🎄AUSTIN LANDING TREE LIGHTINGOn Saturday Nov. 16 from 5-9, the annual Kettering Health Network Christmas Tree Lighting and Light Up the Landing Parade takes place at The Park at Austin Landing, 10400 Innovation Drive, Miamisburg. Watch as Santa Claus skydives into the event around 6 p.m. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a holiday parade, performances, and, of course, the tree lighting. 🎄 A CARILLON CHRISTMAS: Nov. 21-Dec. 30, 5-9 p.m, Sunday through Thursday, and 5-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; Closed Christmas Eve & Christmas Day at Carillon Historical Park, 1000 Carillon Blvd., Dayton. The illumination of the Carillon Tree of Light is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. The park will feature thousands of Christmas lights, traditional holiday fare, Santa Claus, live music, historical craft demonstrations and more. Cost: $12 per adult (18-59); $10 per senior (60+); $8 per child (3-17); Free to children under 3 and Dayton History members. For more information, visit www.daytonhistory.org.

The Dayton Holiday Festival drew crowds of people to downtown Dayton Friday night. The Grand Illumination and the Dayton Children's Parade were two of the highlights of the annual event. The festivities also included live musical performances, horse drawn wagon rides and carnival rides for children.

🎄 GRAND ILLUMINATION TREE LIGHTING: Nov. 29, 4-9 p.m. at Courthouse Square, Third and Main Streets, Dayton. The Dayton Holiday Festival kicks off with the Grande Illumination at 7:45 p.m. followed by the Children's Parade. There will be live reindeer, Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays Contest, live entertainment, The Holiday Village and a Street Fair on Third Street with free carnival rides. Free. 🎄 TROY TREE LIGHTING: Nov. 29, 5-8 p.m. at the Prouty Plaza at 405 Public Square in Troy. The grand tree lighting will take place at 6:45 p.m. Troy will ring in the holiday season with a parade including Santa's arrival by fire truck, carriage rides, tree lighting and visits with Santa. 🎄 HOLIDAY ILLUMINATION: Nov. 29, 6:30-8 p.m. at Christmas Tree Park, Corner of Main Street and Broadway, Lebanon. The City's annual Christmas Tree lighting includes free horse carriage rides and Santa Claus in City Hall. Downtown shops are open late. Free. 🎄 HOMETOWN HOLIDAY WALK & CENTERVILLE TREE LIGHTING: Dec. 1, 1-5 p.m. at Benham's Grove, 166 N. Main St., Centerville. Enjoy the sounds of the season with musical entertainment from the Cline Cougar Chorus and the Centerville Community Band, children's games and activities, cookie decorating, carriage rides, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. The City of Kettering launched the holiday season with the annual Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting at Lincoln Park Civic Commons Friday night Dec. 3.

🎄 KETTERING MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: Dec. 6, 6-8 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Civic Commons, 675 Lincoln Park Blvd., Kettering. The City of Kettering's annual holiday tradition returns with the lighting of the Mayor's Christmas Tree in Lincoln Park. Holiday music and carriage rides begin at 6 p.m. leading up to the countdown of the lighting of the tree by mayor Don Patterson at 6:30 p.m. Free. For more information, visit www.playkettering.com.

111505---Kent Haller of the Fairborn Plant Maintenance Department decorates the holiday Christmas tree on Central Ave. It will take about 2 days. It has 300 lights and hundreds of ribbons and bulbs. 🎄 FAIRBORN HOMETOWN HOLIDAY FESTIVAL AND TREE LIGHTING: Dec. 6, 4-8 p.m. at Fifth-Third Commons, Corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue, Fairborn. There will be a number of activities for the kids, including a chance to have their picture taken with Santa Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides and the Holiday Parade at 6 p.m. ending with the Tree Lighting by Santa. 🎄TIPP CITY'S COMMUNITY TREE LIGHTING: Dec. 6, 6-9 p.m. at Downtown Tipp City, corner of North 3rd and Main Street in front of the Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City. Featuring free hot chocolate and cookies, the community band, Santa and Mrs. Claus riding in on a fire truck followed by selfies with Santa, a short presentation, a sing-along with the Tippecanoe High School Choir and then the big countdown! 🎄CITY OF MORAINE TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY: Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the city of Moraine's Municipal Building, 4200 Dryden Road. Featuring Christmas music and carolers, free cookies and hot chocolate, a visit from Santa Claus and the unveiling of the Christmas Light display. Free. 🎄CHRISTMAS IN MASON TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY: Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m. at Downtown Mason Plaza, Main Street and Route 42, Mason. The event begins incudes the official lighting of the Christmas Tree, an iceless skating rink, photos with Santa, food vendors and adult beverages, kids crafts and activities, music and more. Free.

🎄 WEST CARROLLTON HOLIDAY FEST: Dec. 7, 4-6 p.m. at Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., West Carrollton. Sponsored by the City Beautiful Commission, the event features free "take your own" photos with Santa Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides, a "flashlight candy cane hunt," musical performances by local high school choirs and tree lighting at 6 p.m. Free.
