Royals, they’re just like us: William and Kate have Ikea in palace

The classic, affordable Scandinavian design of Ikea is hard to resist. Just ask Kate Middleton and Prince William.

During their visit to Sweden, the company’s homeland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed that they had opted for Ikea furniture in their children’s bedrooms back home at Kensington Palace.

The British pair told Ikea’s head of design, Marcus Engman, that they were fans during a tour Tuesday through Ark Des, Sweden’s national museum for architecture and design.

“I’m proud that we can suit everybody,” Engman told The Telegraph. “That’s what we want Ikea to be — for the many people of the world, both royalty and ordinary people.”

The couple, who have access to all kinds of priceless antiques and heirloom pieces, didn’t dish details about which Ikea furniture they have exactly.

No word on whether they left assembly to the palace staff or managed that on their own.
