The episode featuring the members of the Gem City Roller Derby team will air Saturday, Sept. 2 on WHIO channel 7. The interactive game hosted by Mario Lopez will have a two-hour season finale beginning at 8 p.m. WHIO is a Cox Media Group Ohio company.

Suter answered a casting call to be on the show. She has long been a fan of the Candy Crush app on her phone.
The live action game was physical, but in a very different way than derby, the hairstylist said.
“(The game’s challenges) are not hitting another person. It is more balance and core strength and not being afraid of heights,” said Suter, who has been a derby player for years. “We are used to slamming into people and taking our opponents out.”
The married 39-year-old and her sister plan to watch the game with family members and friends.

Dement-Wilson, who owns Need More Comics and Toys at 5460 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights with her husband Edd, said she is not the most talkative person and was a little skeptical about being on the show.

She said she has a great time and can’t wait to see how she comes across.
“I actually think I was the least energetic person on the show,” she said with a laugh. “I think I was arms crossed with a sullen look on my face. Hopefully it looks better on TV.”
The sisters battled three other teams for $100,000 on the show.
“(The prize) made you want to win even more,” Dement-Wilson said. “I was more excited about it being more physical than mental.”
As a kid, Dement-Wilson said she dreamed of being in one of those live action Nickelodeon channel competition show.
“I never thought it would happen,” she said.
A roller derby player for five years, the 33-year-old said she is into the crushes and crashes that come with sport.
“I like the aggression,” she said of roller derby. “It is like an adrenaline rush when you get to beat up everybody and break a sweat.”
She said she liked the competitive nature of the game show.
Suter said it was great sharing the experience with her sister and talking roller derby with Candy Crush host Mario Lopez, an undeniable ‘90s heartthrob that first gained notoriety as a A.C. Slater on “Saved by the Bell.”
He sister said she wasn’t starstruck, but Suter definitely noticed Lopez.
“He’s a cutie,” the Dayton native said. “We got to talk to him about roller derby between scenes.”
