A 911 caller said someone was on his back porch but wasn’t sure what was wrong with him, dispatch said.
The gunshot victim was shot in the neck, said Dayton police Maj. Brian Johns.
“He was behind the apartment building when he was approached by a man who fired several shots at him, striking him one time,” Johns said.
The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with critical injuries.
Police have not released any information on a possible suspect.
