5,400 people without power as storms, gusty winds hit Southwest Ohio

Thousands of people lost power Wednesday morning as storms moved through Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley.

As of 12:05 p.m., more than 5,400 people were without power in the region.

AES Ohio customers in Darke, Greene and Miami counties account for 4,290, according to the outage map. Large outages were reported in northern Beavercreek and Troy.

Strong winds are impacting the region and AES Ohio crews are working to make repairs as quickly as possible, the company said.

AES Ohio reminded people to stay away from downed power lines and to call 877-468-8243 to report any outages.

In total, AES Ohio was reporting the following outages:

• Champaign County: 296

• Darke County: 827

• Greene County: 2,039

• Miami County: 1,424

• Montgomery County: 195

• Preble County: 107

• Warren County: 2

As of 12:01 p.m., Duke Energy reported the following outages:

• Butler County: 161

• Warren County: 307

Ohio Edison had 51 customers without power in Clark County and 11 in Champaign County.
