Any resident who would like to receive help during the event should contact 937-859-5182 or parks@westcarrollton.org and provide their name, address and phone number.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own rakes, leaf brlowers, or tarps, if possible. Some materials, such as rakes, gloves and bags, will be available.
The West Carrollton service department continues their weekly leaf collection at the curb line through early December. Leaf piles should be free of sticks, stones and other debris to avoid damage to the vacuum truck. STAFF REPORT
DAYTON
Dementia Education Day is Saturday
The Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter and Dayton Metro Library will present a Dementia Education Day at the main library branch in downtown Dayton on Saturday.
The special in-person event, offered free of charge to the community, will present two educational programs to support Alzheimer’s caregivers and educate anyone wanting to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease.
The event location is the Dayton Metro Library, 215 E. 3rd St., Dayton, in conference room 1B on the first floor. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Those interested can call the Alzheimer’s 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 or go to https://bit.ly/DementiaDayRegister.
· During “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” from 10 to 11 a.m., participants will learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available for some symptoms, and Alzheimer’s Association resources.
· The “Dementia Conversations” program from 11 a.m. to noon will provide tips for breaking the ice with family members to help them discuss some of the most common issues that are difficult to address: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care.
For the safety of participants, volunteers, and staff, the Alzheimer’s Association is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines that require participants to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all indoor programs regardless of vaccination status.
Individuals who have questions about living with Alzheimer’s or providing care can call the Association’s 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 or the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter at 937-291-3332. STAFF REPORT
