16-year-old son shot in the back in Dayton near Third Street

A 16-year-old gunshot victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital Friday night after his mother told dispatchers his son was shot in the back in the city.

Crews were dispatched around 9:40 p.m. to the 100 block of West Fifth Street. The victim was alert when ambulances arrived on the scene, according to a 911 call.

The shooting happened at Wilkinson Plaza, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center. The victim reported he was walking near Third Street when he was shot, though he did not know whether anyone else had been shot.

The victim’s condition is not known.
