A man is dead after he was pinned in his overturned truck in a creek in Clark County

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday off Schiller Road in Bethel Twp., the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Wood, 41, of Medway, was found in his truck in a creek near Lake Road. Initial reports showed that Bethel Twp. EMS volunteers entered the water to try to free Wood, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, the state patrol reported.

A second vehicle was involved in the crash and struck a utility pole in the area, bringing wires down. The other driver, who was not identified, was not injured.

Schiller Road was closed in the area for a few hours as AT&T replaced the downed lines.

Through July 22, there have been 16 fatal crashes in Clark County, according to preliminary state patrol data. At the same time last year, Clark County had seen 23 fatal crashes, compared to eight fatal crashes at the same time in 2019.
