SWAT standoff continues in Washington Twp., roads closed

A SWAT standoff connected to a welfare check is impacting multiple roads in Washington Twp. Tuesday afternoon.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies and SWAT crews are in the 200 block of Brookway Road.

The sheriff’s office is asking people avoid the following areas as the investigation continues:

• Seton Hill Street at West Whipp Road

• Seton Hill Street at Marylhurst Drive

• Seton Hill Street at Meadowwview Drive

Crews responded to Brookway Road around 9:29 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Deputies initially responded to a welfare check, but then a person barricaded themself in the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

As the standoff progressed, SWAT was called to respond.
