The Second Street Market will be open for Stock up Wednesday.

Though the 2nd Street Market in downtown Dayton isn’t normally open on Wednesdays, its vendors are happy to ensure that you have a vast selection of the best holiday treats on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

This special exception is called “Stock-Up Wednesday.”

The market, operated by Five River MetroParks at 600 E. Second St., is still a bit of a hidden gem. Its attendance on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays has grown steadily in recent years. But, given the vast array of artisan food purveyors and craft specialists under one roof, the market still feels a bit under-appreciated this time of year.

Thanksgiving week is a chance to change that.

Shoppers can everything they need for Thanksgiving dinner at the 2nd Street Market — a whole turkey, the makings for side dishes, breads, desserts and decorations for the table and home.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the market will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the purposes of stocking up for Thanksgiving. On the holiday itself, on Nov. 28, the market will, of course, be closed.

To contact the market, email marketinfo@metroparks.org or call (937) 228-2088.
