23,697 cases, 1,331 deaths from coronavirus in Ohio

There are 23,697 cases of coronavirus in Ohio and 1,331 deaths attributed to COVID-19 as of May 9, the Ohio Department of Health reported.

A total of 22,560 cases and 1,214 deaths are confirmed to be from coronavirus. Additional cases and deaths fall under guidelines from the Center for Disease Control that are reported without testing individuals for the virus.

There are 4,300 people hospitalized and 1,200 in an intensive care unit.

Gov. Mike DeWine is not hosting a press conference today to update the state on how officials are responding to the coronavirus. Last week, he outlined a plan for restaurants and hair salons and beauty parlors to reopen.

Restaurants will resume outdoor dining on May 15 and indoor dining on May 21. Beauty parlors, hair salons and personal care services will re-open on May 15.
