Police said they are not sure how long Beans' body has been in the alley. They said it could have been hours or days.
John Ballew said, "They said they found somebody down here. I don't know how long he been back there."
Sgt. Dan Mauch said, "One of the workers from the Paul Laurence Dunbar House was outside on a break and found the body."
Homicide detectives spent hours at the scene, trying to figure out what happened.
"We weren't able to tell at first what type of injuries there were due to the weather conditions and the condition of the body," Mauch said.
Officers would also not comment on how Beans died, only saying that they are certain it was murder.
"At this point, I'm not willing to say what the injuries are. Obviously, they're fatal wounds whatever they are," Mauch said.
Neighbors said they were disturbed that such a crime happened so close to home.
Ballew said, "Everything is getting worse."
According to police, they do not know if Bean's body was dumped in the alley or if he was killed in the alley.
