Coronavirus: Area jails restrict visitation until further notice

The Montgomery County and Greene County Jails will not be accepting visitors until further notice.

The facilities are working to comply with Dr. Amy Acton's order Sunday which stated that jails, correctional facilities, halfway houses, and detention facilities should restrict visitor access in order to prevent further spread of COVID-19

"This office is taking steps to allow for the increased use of phones to accommodate families during this order," the Greene County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

The Montgomery County Jail posted a sign to their facility door stating that all inmate visitation would be cancelled until further notice effective March 13 at 3 p.m.

"With the ongoing emergency creating situations which are constantly changing, we anticipate other changes in the future."
