Coronavirus: UPS works to comply with CDC recommendations

UPS says they have been sharing the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization with all of their employees to be preventative during the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Social distancing is one of the primary pieces of advice given by healthcare professionals and UPS has taken steps to put that advice into action.

“We have added space between work stations inside our facilities and suspended requiring a customer to sign for ‘signature required’ packages when delivered,” they said in a release.

The company also says it has increased cleaning and disinfecting procedures daily with an emphasis on the interiors and frequent exterior touch points.

If any employee is sick, UPS does not want them to come to work. The company will be providing up to 10 days of compensation for any employee who is diagnosed with the virus, required to quarantine, or if a household member is diagnosed with the virus and the employee is required to quarantine.

UPS is planning to distribute an additional 250,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to their employees, they said.

The company is doing what they can to leave the majority of masks and gloves for healthcare workers in an effort to comply with CDC recommendations. However, masks and gloves have been made available to UPS divers who make deliveries to healthcare and assisted living facilities.

They have distributed 17,000 masks to all of their facilities in the U.S., and another 17,000 are on the way, according to their release.
