Community members who talked to News Center 7 say they don’t know why the treasurer is doing it but it is untimely because many of them have been displaced from the Memorial Day Tornadoes or they are living in their homes while trying to rebuild.
“When we attempt to engage with the treasurer of the HOA to ask why you keep doing this, his answer is this is what the bylaws say, this is what the rules say,” Norman Scearce said.
“One thing we know is that everything that is lawful is not expedient. It may be lawful in this regard but it’s definitely not beneficial to the people in this community who are trying to pick up the pieces of their lives,” he said.

Some of the liens are as high as $6,000.
A pastor of a church in the community says it’s not as much about the money as it is the goal. There has been no financial disclosures and a lack of transparency, he said.
