Out of my 39 years of teaching experience, I’ve never come in contact with a finer, more caring, giving resource person. He would spend hours visiting with our students, answering any question about government, and any and all issues of concern. Each and every students was made to feel important and like a first-class citizen. Buz was never too busy to listen and show genuine concern, and I pray that our many students remember his kindness and caring.
Each year, our fifth-grade classes took a trip to Columbus. Buz was always eager and ready to make all arrangements. He always met our bus promptly, and offered any assistance in making our trip a learning success.
One year, a female student became ill while touring at the Statehouse. Buz responded immediately by offering his time and assistance. He was concerned with her health, and with the impact her illness would have on the entire group.
Buz was a “people person,” and when he became ill with cancer, it changed his whole life. He was a caring person, and so easily related to all people.
People like to forget the good and dwell on the negative. I once stated to Buz that his “own party was his greatest enemy.” He will be remembered as one of the greatest.
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
