Daycares across the Miami Valley are shutting their doors starting Thursday, as Gov. DeWine has mandated that child care centers must have a “pandemic license” to continue operation.

To obtain a license, centers must adhere to specific regulations, like a strict cleaning schedule and limitations on quantities of children.

"With the craziness of the pandemic, I'm grateful my kids have a safe place to go, and that they're double checking everything,” Tina Wages told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell. As an employee of Kettering Medical Center, she is an essential worker, and so is her husband.

Other steps being taken by these “pandemic licensed” daycares include temperature checks and general health check-ins.

"My 6 year-old has asthma and I heard it's a lot worse on asthmatic kids, so I’m very appreciative of that,” her husband, Brian, says.
