Crews respond to fire at Oakwood home

A woman was sleeping when she was awakened to smoke and a fire alarm going off in the home, according to an Oakwood officer at the scene.

The resident noticed a fire in the dishwasher in the kitchen, exited the home and called 9-1-1.

The Oakwood officer said the homeowner and his daughter started the dishwasher and left to go shopping.

There is smoke damage throughout the house and possibly damage from flames in the rear of the house.

Crews from Kettering and Dayton assisted Oakwood public safety officers at a reported fire Sunday.

The fire was reported around 10:45 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Orchard Drive.

There were no reports of injuries.

Early reports indicated smoke and possibly flames were coming from a dishwasher.

We have a photographer at the scene and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
