The resident noticed a fire in the dishwasher in the kitchen, exited the home and called 9-1-1.
The Oakwood officer said the homeowner and his daughter started the dishwasher and left to go shopping.
There is smoke damage throughout the house and possibly damage from flames in the rear of the house.
FIRST REPORT
Crews from Kettering and Dayton assisted Oakwood public safety officers at a reported fire Sunday.
The fire was reported around 10:45 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Orchard Drive.
There were no reports of injuries.
Early reports indicated smoke and possibly flames were coming from a dishwasher.
