Driver escapes vehicle submerged in Eastwood Lake

A driver escaped his vehicle after he drove off Ohio 4 on Thursday and plunged into Eastwood Lake.

Divers from Wright Patterson Air Force Base responded to Eastwood Lake to check the vehicle to make sure the driver was the only person in the vehicle. A special underwater drone checked the vehicle, and did not find anyone else inside, WPAFB fire officials said.

The vehicle went off Ohio 4 around 12:40 p.m. and through a fence before entering the water. It happened in between Harshman road and the state Route 444 exit.

WPAFB fire officials said a tow truck was called to pull the vehicle from the water.
