Alleged soup can thrower guilty on several charges

A Springfield man accused of throwing a soup can at his mother and threatening his neighbors was found guilty and sentenced on several charges Thursday in Municipal Court.

William Bono Jr., 35, of 301 Roseland Drive E., was found guilty of criminal trespass, criminal damaging and aggravated menacing. A charge of domestic violence was amended to menacing, for which he was also found guilty. Several charges, including disorderly conduct and open container, were dismissed.

Bono was sentenced to 22 days in jail for the criminal trespass charge, credit for time served; 90 days in jail for the criminal damaging charge; 22 days in jail for the menacing charge, credit for time served; and 180 days in jail for the aggravated menacing charge.

Bono was arrested earlier this month after his mother told police he punched her and threw a soup can at her.

More charges were filed against him while he was in the Clark County jail, because a neighbor had recorded Bono threatening her from his property.In the videos turned into police for evidence, Bono can be seen yelling, "I'll cut you up!" while holding a wood saw in his hand.Two additional videos show Bono yelling obscenities toward the neighbor's residence, including death threats.
