The speedway itself was cited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Investigative Unit for five violations mostly related to selling alcohol to people under 21.
“We did issue a citation against the liquor license,” said Brent Devery, Ohio Investigative Unit agent-in-charge. “We made two arrests.”
The unit arrested Lisa A. Sorrell, 43, and Aaron L. Neal, 19, on a charge of selling and/or furnishing beer to a person under 21.
Julie Hinds, spokeswoman for the Ohio Investigative Unit, said after criminal charges are dealt with for those two, the Liquor Control Commission would decide penalties against Kil-Kare.
A hearing could be months away, she said, and the penalty could range from revocation to suspension to a fine.
A Kil-Kare official referred all questions about charges to attorney Joe Stadnicar, who could not be reached comment.
Greene County Sheriff’s Maj. Eric Prindle said deputies arrested one adult on a charge of disorderly conduct, another on a charge of resisting arrest, and cited a 16-year-old girl for underage drinking at the event where he said deputies could not engage in full enforcement at the event because there aren’t enough deputies to do so.
He said the sheriff’s office did briefly halt alcohol sales late Saturday.
The Ohio Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post reported that 11 arrests were made on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in the area of Kil-Kare, which OHP Lt. Marty Fellure said “was a couple higher” than usual for the number of such arrests during a typical weekend at the speedway.
Before the event, Xenia Twp. and Beavercreek Twp. sought injunctions against Kil-Kare to make sure zoning violations would not occur if the event occurred as advertised. A county magistrate dismissed the claims.
None of the alcohol-related violations were against the organizers of the event.
