Beavercreek children lived in house with pet feces, vomit on floor

XENIA — Three young Beavercreek children were living in a house with dog and cat feces, vomit and old food smeared on the floors and walls, according to Beavercreek police.

Steven V. Hamblin, 24, and Kristin M. Hamblin, 26, of 1173 Fergus Drive, have been indicted on three counts apiece of fourth-degree felony child endangerment. They are parents to a 4-year-old girl and two boys ages 1 and 2.

A grand jury from the Court of Common Pleas of Greene County found probable cause that the children were living in an unsafe and/or unhealthy environment. As of Monday afternoon, the Hamblins were still in the Greene County Jail. No arraignment date has been set.

Last year, both were convicted in Fairborn Municipal Court of multiple first-degree misdemeanor child endangerment charges and placed on probation.

The Hamblins were arrested Sept. 11 when a police officer found the three children unsupervised. The report said that in addition to the feces from the five dogs and two cats, there was trash and stains on the carpet and beer cans and trash on the counter tops.

In the children’s bedroom, an officer saw bread and food smeared on the floor, no sheets on the beds, old cat feces and an exposed electrical outlet.

Beavercreek police said the children are currently in the care of a grandparent.
