Belmont High School student hit by car near school

A 13-year-old Belmont High School student hit by a car in front of the school suffered minor injuries and was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital.

He was checked for a bump to his head, Dayton Sgt. Steven Bauer said.

He said the driver will not be cited because of conflicting witness statements as to whether the student was in the crosswalk.

The accident occurred about 3:50 p.m. when the student, who was walking along the southeast corner of school property in the 2600 block of Wayne Avenue, was hit, Bauer said.

The car was in the right lane on Wayne Avenue, he said.
