Bomb threat led to restaurant evacuation

UPDATE @9:10 a.m. 1/20/2015: Police confirmed a restaurant at The Greene was evacuated over the weekend due to a bomb threat.

Brio Tuscan Grille patrons were evacuated as a precaution, said Captain Eric Grile with the Beavercreek Police Department.

An explosive detective K-9 was called to the scene, and nothing was found.

UPDATE @ 7:22 p.m. 1/17/2015:

A popular Italian restaurant was evacuated for nearly two hours this evening as yellow police tape cordoned off a center courtyard area at The Greene.

Brio Tuscan Grille patrons and other witnesses said a bomb threat was made, which evacuated the restaurant shortly before 5:30 p.m. However, Beavercreek police would only say the department was conducting an investigation and would not confirm a threat was made or say why police blocked off the scene and barred entry into the building during the busy Saturday dinnertime hours.

Beavercreek police said no statement would be available about the incident that impacted several hundreds of patrons of the popular retail, dining and entertainment complex until the department resumes regular business hours on Tuesday following the Monday Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

A K-9 from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base arrived just before 7 p.m. to help search the building, but apparently nothing was found. By 7:15 p.m., police took down the crime scene tape and patrons were allowed to re-enter the restaurant.

Nearly a dozen Beavercreek police and fire vehicles responded to the incident, blocking the roadways at The Greene in addition to the yellow police tape that blocked off some streets and walkways.
