Bond at $200K for standoff in Miamisburg

UPDATE @ 9:40 p.m. (Sept. 12): David Williams, who surrendered to end that standoff in Miamisburg, is spending his 56th birthday in the Montgomery County Jail.

Bond has been set at $200,000 cash on single felony counts of kidnapping and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, according to online jail records.

Those same jail records list his birthday as Sept. 12. Williams is due in court next in mid September.

UPDATE @ 8:19 p.m. (Sept. 11): A 55-year-old man who prompted the standoff in Miamisburg that involved a SWAT call out surrendered quietly after about six hours.

Miamisburg police Sgt. William Kelly said the man's live-in girlfriend accused him of assault and detaining her against her will at a house on East Central Avenue since Wednesday. What charges will be filed will be up to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office, Kelly said, but the man is likely to face a charge or charges related to domestic violence.

The standoff began sometime after 1:30 p.m., when Dayton SWAT was dispatched because the man had gone inside the house and refused to come out, Kelly said. A Miamisburg police officer had stopped the man, who was in a car, not far from the residence. But the man drove off and parked behind the house.

The officer was on his way to the East Central Avenue address because the woman had come to the police department to report the assault and detention, the sergeant said.

The man walked out and surrendered just before 7:30 p.m., with his hands in the air.

Kelly said the woman appeared to have suffered minor injuries. The man suffered some self-inflicted injuries and was taken to a hospital before being taken to jail.

Some people living nearby in an apartment building were asked to leave their residences until the situation was resolved.

Kelly said that because the investigation was in its early stages, he couldn't say whether there were any weapons in the residence.
