Car crashes into Panera Bread restaurant

BUTLER TWP., Montgomery County — Diners and employees at Panera Bread, 6550 Miller Lane, got a surprise Tuesday evening when a car slammed into the side of the building.

One employee suffered a minor injury when a driver, who appeared to have suffered some sort of medical problem while trying to park, hit a brick wall, pushing it into the restaurant about a foot.

Both the driver and the employee refused transport to the hospital.

A family member was able to drive the car away from the scene with minimal damage.

Butler Township police at the scene did not have a damage estimate for the building, which suffered a broken window and damage to the wall.

The store’s manager declined to comment and the restaurant was open for business throughout the incident.

Police said there will most likely not be charges for the driver.
