Case dismissed against pair accused in Dayton burglary, pistol-whipping

Criminal charges were dismissed Wednesday against a Dayton woman and her boyfriend accused of breaking into a man’s home and demanding money at gunpoint.

A Montgomery County grand jury declined to indict Jake Abston, 30, and Sara Rhoades, 23, and their cases in Dayton Municipal Court were dismissed, online records show.

They were arrested June 11 on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an incident on Philadelphia Drive in Dayton involving Rhoades’ estranged husband, according to a Dayton police report.
